Passive voice: change of focus

We use the passive voiceThe form of the transitive verb that shows whether the subject acts (active voice) or is acted upon (passive voice). This means that the agent may not be so important and may be omitted in the passive sentence.

Helen finished the letter in two hours. (focus on Helen, the agent)
The letter was finished in two hours. (focus on the letter, the object)
The water in the nearby pool reflected her figure. (focus on the water in the nearby pool, the agent)
Her figure was reflected in the nearby pool. (focus on her figure, the object)
